AN INNER LIFE PRACTICE

Creating a thoughtful, personal, self-care foundation for a sustainable career as a performing arts professional

An Inner Life Practice is a methodology used to develop and nurture a deliberate personalized self-care practice for performing arts professionals. It creates a practical, self-driven discipline that promotes ownership, stability and career longevity.

As performing arts professionals, we spend time and effort practicing our external craft, i.e. our music skills, acting, singing and dancing skills, etc. But how much time do we spend developing and nurturing our inner world? A sustainable career requires both.

An Inner Life Practice is available as a customizable curriculum, master class and 1-1 coaching, and has been offered at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, Leeds College of Music and Associated Studios in London.

TESTIMONIALS

“On the 4th of November 2019, Eu Jin visited Leeds College of Music (LCoM) as a guest speaker and delivered a talk to our Musical Theatre degree program. His talk was based on A Healthy Inner Life Practice – a methodology Eu Jin
is creating to address aspects of practical, self-driven and sustainable wellness and resilience through training and upon entering the acting profession.

Throughout the guest talk, Eu Jin was professional, courteous and an excellent facilitator for conversation regarding the difficult and complex nature of a professional career as an actor. The feedback from the
students was incredibly positive and I would highly recommend his discussions and workshops based around a Healthy
Inner Practice to any other institutions and conservatoires. I do hope Eu Jin develops this work into a curriculum and that it becomes available in the future to as many higher education performing arts students as possible.”

Adam Stadius, Programme Leader (Musical Theatre), Leeds College of Music

“I met Eu Jin nearly two years ago, and was instantly attracted to his positive energy. In the midst of a great life transition (a Trans-Atlantic move and Grad School), I found myself riddled with mental chaos – how would I get through the next year? Where would I end up? Was I making the right choices? It was clear from our first meeting that Eu Jin not only understood these anxieties, but had mastered a way to succeed in spite of them. His kindness is boundless, but his standout feature is his genuine generosity.

When I speak, Eu Jin listens, and allows me space to voice my trepidation without judgement. He emphasizes the importance of being patient with oneself, and advocates reframing each negative and anxious thought into an affirmation or focused plan. He promotes presence and connection – both to the natural world and other humans.

Since working with Eu Jin on inner acceptance of myself, and how I fit into the world, my growth as an artist and human being has multiplied exponentially. It is a daily journey, but with Eu Jin’s guidance, I am finding each day to be filled with less doubting, more joy.

He has, and continues to instil the power of now, and the beauty of the unknown, as each day gives us the gift to grow and flourish – even if it’s not a particularly positive one. I find myself showing up – in both the audition room and corporate workplace – more energized, present and willing to collaborate with confidence and understanding.

In Eu Jin, I have not only found a mentor, but a lifelong friend. It is an honour to have his guidance and support on this glorious adventure that is life.”

“Eu Jin is empathetic, genuine, caring at the same time tough and honest. I have found our time together inspirational and insightful. Exploring one’s inner self, goals and self-worth can be a brutal journey and I can’t think of anyone more equipped to both challenge and mentor me through than Eu Jin. Thank you!”
